DEKONMATE®’s Decontamination Wipes are for use on the skin of a firefighter or first responders. They are the result of significant research & development, culminating in a unique formula that removes the majority of PAHs, OPFRs, PBDEs, and metals such as Lead and Cadmium from skin at the scene at the earliest opportunity, significantly lowering the risk of dermal exposure.

Product validation by independent, internationally accredited scientific test laboratories* was undertaken, with testing conducted on each of the EPA 16 PAH priority pollutants, six OPFRs, seven PBDEs, and metals such as Lead and Cadmium. Dermatologically, Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing** was also undertaken, and the product was independently proven to be fit for purpose and has very good skin compatibility. After wiping with a two-wipe protocol, recommended for the use of DEKONMATE® Decontamination Wipes, the average reduction in skin concentrations of the analysed PAHs, OPFRs, PBDEs and metals was up to 97%, 91%, 94% and 90%, respectively.

The future health of firefighters around the world is of paramount importance, and the reality is that a simple, cost-effective, on-scene, equipment decontamination protocol removing indirect equipment exposure (off-gassing) can and must be implemented by every firefighter.

DECON International identified an issue with off-gassing and direct contact with contaminated equipment (hard surfaces) during transit/transition and decontamination, as well as possible ineffective decontamination of equipment that led to the development of the DEKONMATE Equipment Wipe

The DEKONMATE® Equipment Wipe for use on equipment hard surfaces and appliance touch points uses a similar proven unique formula to that used in the DEKONMATE Decontamination Wipes and removes PAHs, OPFRs, PBDEs and metals such as Lead and Cadmium from equipment hard surfaces and appliance touch points at the scene and later at the station, significantly reducing off-gassing and the dermal exposure risk.
